Taylor Swift Facts
Out of all the many Taylor Swift facts, perhaps one of the most important is that she is a true phenomenon whose music has won her fans around the world. Taylor is primarily a country music singer, but her unique style has crossed over into the mainstream, earning a great deal of international admiration.
Taylor Swift Facts – career so far
Taylor’s talent was recognised from a very early age. When only 14 years old, she signed a deal with record company Sony/ATV – the youngest ever songwriter to do so.
It is Taylor’s songwriting ability that has marked her out as a star. Unlike so many in the music industry these days, she writes all of her own material. Her songs are easily identifiable and have proven to be particularly popular with younger fans. That said, Taylor’s fanbase certainly isn’t limited only to teens – she is popular amongst a wide range of age groups.
The praise that Taylor has won for her songwriting has been extremely well deserved. Not only did her first album go platinum, it made her the first ever female country artist to have had a hand in writing all of the songs on a debut album that had sold over 1 million copies.
Taylor Swift Facts – MySpace
A big reason for Taylor’s popularity is the way she has connected with fans. This is something that artists have found extremely difficulty to do in the past, for understandable reasons. Even if a singer had wanted to, it isn’t exactly practical to great each and every fan at a 60,000 sell-out concert!
But Taylor took advantage of social networking right from the very early days and before it became as popular as it is right now. A Taylor Swift fact that new fans may not know is that initially she was very big on MySpace (remember that?). It provided a platform for her to share her music, as well as being able to answer fan questions.
Taylor’s initial fame on MySpace allowed her to build up an initial fanbase. Most of Taylor’s earlier followers were country music fans who helped her to become the most popular country artist on the social networking site.
Taylor Swift Facts – Twitter and YouTube
Of course, these days MySpace isn’t as popular as it once was. And Taylor is a lot more famous than she was back then. Does this mean that she has given up on the whole social networking thing? Absolutely not. Taylor is a regular user of Twitter, and at the time of writing has a truly staggering number of followers – well over 7 million. And it is not only Twitter that Taylor uses, as she regularly posts videos to her YouTube channel.
